2012 NAIOP 9th Annual Real Estate Challenge Breakfast

    DATE: March 28
    TIME: 7:30 am
    LOCATION:  Sheraton Downtown Seattle

Get ready to root for your favorite college team! This isn’t football - it’s the Ninth Annual NAIOP Real Estate Challenge. This unique competition features teams from the University of Washington (Seattle & Tacoma), the University of British Columbia, and the University of Alberta; each vying for bragging rights and the prestige associated with the mastery of the event. Students from each university’s real estate program will compete from mid-January through late March to create and present a development proposal for a multi-faceted and challenging real-world project.

The 2012 Real Estate Challenge partnered with MC Construction Consultants, Inc., a local development and construction company. The project site was comprised of 97 acres of land along the Puget Sound waterfront in Tacoma and Ruston. Formerly owned by ASARCO, which used the site for the smelting and refining various raw materials, the site was deemed a Superfund site in 1983. At present, the site has been prepped for master
development with major infrastructure in place. It’s now up to the students to determine how to develop the site and how to phase the developments. The challenge culminates in formal presentations before NAIOP members, university representatives, a judging panel of industry leaders and member sponsors before the winning team is announced.

    May the best team win!
